The Sant Pere hermitage is the former chapel of the Castell de Sacama (or Camba) castle, and is dedicated to the Apostle Peter. It is a single-nave chapel with a semi-circular Lombard apse and a bell tower in the shape of a small chair. The apse is all that remains of the old Romanesque chapel, built between 963 and 966 A.D. over the remains of an old Visigothic oratory. It is a magnificent looking construction, with fine masonry, Lombard arches and a small semicircular central window. The rest of...
A majestic building that is the venue for a play that is one of Catalonia’s most important and emblematic of local popular culture: La Passió i Mort de Jesús. Designed by the architect Joan Baca Pericot, it has an audience capacity of 1,499 in a single-level seating area with an amphitheater configuration.

FESTIVALS
During the first week of September, Olesa is transformed into the setting for the War of the Spanish Succession (1705-1714), with a recreation of the events that took place in the town of Olesa de Montserrat during the conflict. As a meeting point and a strategic post, Olesa had a castle and hospital and was located close to the Bourbon headquarters in Martorell and the royal road to Esparreguera, as well as being half-way between Manresa and Barcelona.
SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Every weekend of the year, the Olesa Municipal Council’s Department of the Environment organizes guided excursions around the municipality, in both urban and rural areas, to introduce participants to our natural and cultural heritage and facilitate the exploration of new trails.
Activities are also often created in relation to a specific event, such as World Water Day or Sustainable and Safe Mobility Week.
THEATER, DANCE, CONCERTS AND SERIES
The La Passió presentation is not just a play. It is the strength of the Olesan people who come together selflessly to bring 500 years of history to the stage. It is the connection of a whole town to a beautiful tradition, which has been passed on from generation to generation. Dating as far back as 1538, it is the first Passion Play to be awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi prize (2002).
MARKET
The place to shop for fresh local produce, the Olesa Municipal Market has numerous stalls offering every kind of food: meat, fish, handmade sausages, fruit and vegetables grown by the sellers, seafood, beans, poultry, and dried fruit, as well as precooked dishes prepared by catering businesses.
LOCAL PRODUCT
The oil of Olesa, known by the brand name Oulesa, is unique and exclusive to the municipality, as it is extracted from the palomar or “Olesan” variety of olive, native to the region. Defined as mature and balanced, with medium fruitiness, notable for its low level of acidity and high oleic acid content. Oulesa is a smooth oil, slightly sweet, that is especially recommended for eating raw, as it brings out the flavor of the food.
